5 strokes and he's out.
At the whistle, he starts strong at 1st stroke...
Then 2...3...*inhale*... AND then! At the 5th splash, I hear the familiar gasp, as he pulls himself out of the water sucking in air and holding on for dear life.
I know this because I was his swimming buddy.
It wasn't always easy for my classmate, Dan. And what bogged him the most was we were only 17 at the time... but why does his energy plummet and he can't last longer in the pool like the other teens?
Well, as our coach puts it, Dan has the most perfect "form" and the most flawless "strokes" than the rest of us...
